Small Groups (Grow with Christ)
Pastor Bible Study
Pastor Sandy leads bible studies and topical studies throughout the year. Her next study begins on Friday, August 28 at noon on Zoom. The group will read the book, “White Fragility: Why it’s so Hard for White People to Talk about Racism.” The study is designed to give space for discussions on race and racism in the United States and learn about institutional racism that is pervasive in our culture. As a result of the study we plan to formulate a response, how we, as Christians, can support our African American sisters and brothers and work to end this oppression. Please purchase a book (kindle editions are available) and be prepared to discuss the first chapter at our first session. Please RSVP either on Facebook or send me an email. Sisters in Fellowship Together Bible Study - On hiatus until further notice
Our Santa Cruz Valley UMC ladies’ bible study group began meeting in members’ homes in 2006 and then moved the Friday morning meetings to the new church building at 71 E. Sahuarita Road in May, 2011. S.I.F.T. (Sisters in Fellowship Together) has continued for 14 years with several of the original members as well as additional women who have joined us throughout that time. We typically meet September through April or May and then take some time off during the summers or, depending upon a vote of the members, continue with one or two short term studies during the summer.
However, in March, 2020, because of the outbreak of coronavirus our church, and others in the community closed but will reopen when allowed by State and local authorities and deemed to be safe for groups to meet. We are anxious for that to occur.
Through these studies held in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere, we learn more about the Lord and his Word and the people of the Bible. We additionally provide support to one another in times of need, take on missions projects---and become long-term friends.
We meet at 9:30a.m. on Fridays for snacks, coffee/tea and conversation. Promptly at 10:00 a.m. we begin discussion of our lesson led by one of our members, and finish by 11:30am.
We welcome visitors anytime!
