Lent, 2016

Lent is one of the oldest observations on the Christian calendar. Like all Christian holy days and holidays, it has changed over the years, but its purpose has always been the same: self-examination and penitence, demonstrated by self-denial, in preparation for Easter.

In worship on Sunday mornings we will turn our hearts towards Jesus with a new sermon series.  Jesus prayed for his disciples in the 17th chapter of the book of John.  The central theme of this prayer is community.  Jesus prays that we might become one, just as He and His Father are one.  As the church, what must we do to become one in Christ Jesus?  We will examine Jesus’ words to us beginning February 14-March 20.
