New Sunday School Program begins this Sunday.  Elaine Kloetzly and Wanda Butler have gotten everything ready for students 4 years old through 5th grade.  The students will join in worship through the Children’s message then be excused to have their own lesson, music, craft and snack.  Please bring your children and grand children to join in the fun!  Pre-registration is suggested – stop by the church anytime this week between 9 a.m. and noon to register.  If you are interested in volunteering as a teacher please see Elaine or Wanda.  We will be blessing our new teachers this Sunday.

Grief Support Workshop is being offered, starting September 23 at St. Francis in the Valley Episcopal Church.  Facilitated by Jeannie North, BSN, MC the grief support encompasses learning about the grieving process after a significant loss, helping to heal the pain associated with loss of a loved one and finding ways of coping with day to day life without the physical presence of your loved one.  The group is five Monday’s from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Francis in the Valley at 600 S. La Canada Drive, in Green Valley.

New Men’s Bible Study is being held at SCVUMC starting Tuesday September 17 at 5:30 a.m.  It’s called, The Quest for Authentic Manhood with Robert Lewis.  “This 24 life-changing sessions focuses on the primary issues that shape a man’s life; explores in depth the biblical concept of manhood; and finally provides practical building blocks for any man to use to construct for himself a nobler, more satisfying manhood.   Topics include: seasons of a man’s life, uncovering a man’s wounds, defining manhood, deepening the marriage relationship, raising sons and daughters and developing a manhood plan.”  Contact Ramon Rendon at 520.822.6664 or .  There is a $35.00 cost for the course.

Non-Partisan – Interfaith Community Climate Rally.  Supporting the global climate strike and screening of Paris to Pittsburgh:  Americans working together to save their communities for the benefit of all.  Esperanza/La Cañada corner on Friday, September 20.  Rally at 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the video is being shown at 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Green Valley Library.  For more information contact

Sign up to help in the pumpkin patch!  The pumpkins for our patch are being delivered on October 12 at 4:00 p.m.  We need volunteers to help unload and staff the patch in 4 hour shifts every day from October 13 to 31st.  The sign up sheet is on the table in the sanctuary or call the church office and sign up!  Everyone is encouraged to help in some way.  This is a fundraiser for the church and a great way to meet our neighbors!!

Save the Date:  Our All Church/Charge Conference will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m.  Rev. Mark Conrad will be officiating this yearly meeting where we can celebrate our successes, and focus on the new year, setting goals and mission plans for the new year.  Everyone is invited to attend and participate.

All Church Town Hall & Potluck will be held on Sunday September 22 following worship.  We will be discussing the results from the special session of the Annual Conference being held Saturday, September 14 in Phoenix.  We will present the current situation our global church is experiencing, the details of the traditional plan that was passed at the General Conference session February 2019 and the responses of other groups to maintain the unity of our church.  We will discuss the pros and cons of the various plans and become better informed about the opportunities before us.  Following the presentations and discussions we will break bread!!  Join us for a Potluck and continue the conversation during lunch.
