Missions

The mission’s committee’s purpose statement is “To allow God to work through us as we reach out to those in need, in partnership with God and with an attitude of servanthood as we share the Word and Love of Christ with all we meet.”

Their guiding scripture is “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Here are some of the committee’s current projects:

IMAGINE…hospitals and clinics with enough medication and resources to effectively treat malaria patients. We are helping to make that possible. During the month of June we saved another 24 lives with $245.42 raised for the IMAGINE NO MALARIA Campaign. So far we have raised $1,315.44 which translates into 131 lives saved. Remember, just $10 can save the life of one person from the dread disease of malaria.

AmadoGifts 008

Amado Children’s Christmas – Church members work all year long to collect and wrap new toys for children who attend the Sopori School in Amado, AZ. Gift are delivered through the Green Valley Food Bank around Christmas time. Each child in the school receives a new, wrapped gift from Santa.

Also at Christmas time we are very active in Operation Christmas Child, which sends the gospel message along with gifts to children around the world.  In addition, we support children whose parents are incarcerated during the holiday season through Project Angel Tree, an outreach of Prison Ministries Fellowship.

Green Valley Food Bank – besides our food donation each month that Sue Henning collects, we also donate money each month to help provide fresh milk to every family that comes to the food bank.

Just Coffee – If you are interested in purchasing free-trade coffee to support independent coffee growers in Chiapis, Mexico, NOW is the time. Beans and ground, regular and decaffeinated are available by the pound for $8.50 (reg) and $9.50 (decaf). I will place an order towards the end of November and it will arrive in early December, in plenty of time for Christmas. This is a great gift idea, a good price, and wonderful coffee!
