THE JOURNEY OF FAITH

We begin our Journey of Faith to fulfill our calling to raise a building for God’s children and a place where we can come together and worship. A place where the broken, battered and bored can find refuge and be in God’s presence on any given day.

The journey is about providing a church home, which will require raising funds – no question – but this will really be about raising our ownership in the Kingdom of God. This has led us to name our campaign “Journey of Faith”. Journey of faith says we are committing our whole lives to God’s purpose in this world; it says we are not afraid to take a faith risk; and it also says we need space so others can get in on what God is doing here.

 CAPITAL STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

The Journey of Faith begins with a capital stewardship program that will provide us the needed capital to construct a new building. The Board of Trustees has provided a site for the new building. That site is at the northwest corner of Sahuarita Road and LaVillita Road. Our future building signs have been on this piece of property for the past two years. Our purchase agreement with the local developer allows us until October 2010 to pay off the note for the land and until October, 2012 to start construction of a building. Many in the church family feel we can not wait that long. We must begin to move forward now.

Thus we have embarked on a Journey of Faith to raise the funds necessary to start construction. You will learn more about the actual building plans, the timetables, and the proposed financing as we make that journey. At present we need to concentrate on the Journey of Faith process.

 COMMUNICATIONS

In the next four months you will be receiving a number of messages through various communication means about our capital stewardship program. A capable leadership team has been formed. Each leader will ask for people to assist in their area of responsibility. We plan to involve many of our SCVUMC members on these teams. Each person will have a limited but a very important job to do. All of the parts meshed together will provide for a successful journey.

 ASSISTANCE

Resource Services Incorporated (RSI) will be partnering with us in the capital stewardship program. They will help us through the details necessary for a successful campaign, based on the extensive experience RSI has had with many other church stewardship campaigns.

INVOLVEMENT

We are now asking you to join in this Journey of Faith with your fellow brothers and sisters of the congregation. We not only want you to spend time in prayer for this journey, but also to embrace what riches this journey will bring for us now and also for the people this will touch in the future.
